It's not really intuitive, and I had the same problem with the blade being loose, until I took it completely apart. Turns out that I had to rotate the blade 90 degrees and put it the slots in the metal sleeve (if you separate the two metal halves that the blade goes into, you'll see there's a slot cut into each half - those slots go on the top and bottom edges of the blades). After I did that and slid the 2 halves of the sleeve back in the handle, and tightened it down, the blade is as tight/secure as it can be, and doesn't budge a bit (because the two metal halves clamp down on the blade as it's tightened)! **Q: Will any brand and size of replacement blade fit this knife?** A: I own 2 of them that were bought at different times and I've tried blades #1, #3, #4, #10, #11, and #12 from a couple of manufacturers including X-ACTO. If you decide to get one just make sure you insert the blade in the smaller slot and not at the larger split. **Q: do these tighten the blade at the grip point like xacto (and ripoffs) or is that handled at the other end as sugested by the textured end piece?** A: Yes. The end away from the blade is where you twist to tighten (or loosen) the blade. **Q: What is the difference between the #11 and #2 blade?
