The elastic is not tight around the bit-driver, and it has a small enough diameter to fall through. My solution is to put a pocket clip from an old ink pen onto the bit driver. That eliminates any chance the bit driver can fall through. **Q: Does this convert to regular hex bit size?** A: Yes you can use regular hex bits in this extension.it has a notch in it to accept the leather man bits that are flat. Those bits are a must have for the leatherman as well. I use them and the extension constantly. **Q: Does this fit into the Leatherman surge premium case elastic side pockets without falling out?** A: I have the bit driver on one side and a Fenix 05 (AAA flashlight) on the other of my balistic nylon case for the Charge. **Q: is this extension in any way magnetic?** A: No, it is not magnetic.
