After mating the base to the seat/seatback assembly I realized the 3 plastic tubular dust protectors on the center (silver) pole were in the wrong order such that they did not properly telescope and retract as the chair height is raised and lowered. I believe their purpose is to protect the mechanism from dust and corrosion.Problem is you apparently cannot pull the chair off the base once it is assembled. It cannot be disassembled, it seems.I emailed Nightingale for help - they sent me the 2nd pic that I have enclosed with this review. When pressed further for how to remedy the situation no further communication was forthcoming from them.
