ACK! This product is beautifully packaged, leading me to believe I had found a healthy solution to my anxiety, and as a bonus, make me healthier. Microsomal metabolism of kava can lead to the formation of metabolites that may contribute to liver toxicity. It has been used in Western countries as a natural treatment for anxiety, insomnia, and other conditions. However, kava can have toxic effects, including liver injury and skin toxicity, and there is concern that it may cause drug interactions: • Drug interactions: Kava can inhibit P450 enzymes, which are responsible for metabolizing most pharmaceutical agents. • Liver toxicity: Metabolites formed from the metabolism of kava in the liver can contribute to hepatotoxicity. Heavy consumption of kava has been linked to unexplained liver injury and hepatotoxicity. • Skin toxicity: Heavy consumers of kava may experience skin toxicity. ACK!
