The information supplied with it could perhaps be better. The Presch website says (in German) "Flat wire staples of type 53 F / 8 are suitable for the hand stapler. Fine wire staples, however, are not suitable". The key is that you need flat wire staples. Most on the market are fine wire. The supplied staples are about 1.1mm thick. I bought some made from 1.2mm flat wire and they work fine. If you try to use ordinary fine wire staples, they will either jam or go through two at a time. It's a heavy duty stapler, so needs heavy duty staples. The staples also need an 11.3mm crown (which is quite standard). It says it takes staples 4-14mm long. The supplied ones are 8mm, which is what I went with, but in theory you can choose the right length ones for your job. So in summary, buy staples that are 11.3mm wide, 4-14mm long, and made from 1.1-1.2mm flat wire. There are three types of staples included and we used the basic staples which were fine. You do need a bit of strength to squeeze the handle but it isn't too bad. A good product so far and it was spot on for the job we needed it for. The reason I have knocked off a star is because this wouldn't be very good for someone with a weak grip, you really do need to press it quite hard.
