I recommend the smallest size(orange) allows for tighter or looser curls. I have long & thick hair using other techniques a few hours my curls get weighed down are gone! I have hair that is thick and almost to my butt. I washed my hair, used a bit if Biosilk, a very sheer amount if Suave Mousse, then a spritz of setting spray. I used 2 packages of rods, and was able to get all of my hair. I left them on to air dry fir about 2 hours, then used a diffuser and hair dryer on high heat, low air setting to dry the rest. My hair came out with beautiful spiral curls. The curls actually lasted 3 days. On the 3rd day, humidity kicked in, so I had to do a ponytail, but the curls were still very much present.
