Once you find the right position and lock it down, it holds the phone as if it were part of the handle bar. I have this on my 2002 Electraglide and I can see the screen very plainly. I have an IPhone 7 Plus with a case and it fits easily. They only thing that could be considered a drawback is when you insert or remove the phone, you spend a few seconds tightening or loosening the clamp. This is not a big deal for me since I know it is locking it in place on a bike that vibrates a lot.
