The front support is so wide I can't fit it up to the engine on a hoist.** A: I started by bolting the plate onto the engine. Then, I backed the stand in between the hoist legs so I could get the plate as far in as possible. Slowly lower the hoist until the mounting plate is about level with where it inserts into the stand. Sometimes, I had to negotiate with the stand with a hammer to beat it onto the plate, but once it's on just place the retainer pin and let the engine (very slowly) down. It's a process, but very doable. **Q: need this for a 472 cadillac motor, will it do the job?** A: Will hold it but do not recommend for even small block v8 if using to turn and rebuild. No brake or anything on rotation.
