The gold hue of the bulbs along with the glow of squirrel cage filament really make them feel like they are from an earlier time and place - they are a "statement" on their own. But when I bought two fixtures that use 8 bulbs each - I didn't know what sort of added cost I would have. And once all the bulbs were in and the light was on - wow I could feel the bulb's heat! Luckily these are dimmable light bulbs so I don't have to turn on to full power. They're beautiful bulbs and they look amazing in my fixture. I would even say they are bright enough. But they are very yellow. I don't like them due to that. These bulbs are very timely and I love the throw back look of them. It's like 1890 all over again. These can be used on dimmer switches and are so cool to look at. I'm glad I got 12 of them.
