The face is particularly clear and easy to read, and the entire face glows in the dark. That said, I gave one to a ten year old. The clock survived, but the carabiner clip did not. There is a design flaw in the carabiner clip: If you open the swinging gate (latch) of the carabiner all the way, the return spring is being over-extended. If you repeatedly open the gate all the way, the spring will fail. I've looked at three now, and they all are built the same.
