It is very smooth to drink so no need to mix with coke. It has a rich wood and spice flavour without overpowering. I also tried the 12 year old Chivas and did notice a difference with the taste, as the 18 years i found had more spice and balanced flavour, so is worth upgrading if you are a whisky lover. However it is worth mentioning that Chivas Regal primarily markets itself towards the less experienced whisky drinkers (which is absolutely fine), since that is the largest profit margin. Personally I’m no single malt snob even though I have a number of wonderful whiskies in my collection ranging from £30-£350 and yet I still find myself enjoying blends such as this. Its not perfect by any means but for £50 it’s hard to criticize. You get aromas of sherry, fruits, oak, leather, toffee and perhaps some dark chocolate. And despite being only 40%abv it has a surprising amount of depth and is maybe a little too easy to drink.
