Right now he is still at an age where he doesn't think love is gross or mushy. When I read this book while the final message seemed to affirm Valentine worthy love, the middle of the story spent a lot of time with characters suggesting it was yucky. I'd rather not encourage this idea right now, even if the book tries to deliver the opposite message in conclusion. We have, however, enjoyed the author's Fright Club. Maybe this book would be good for older kids who already pretend they think affection is ewwwy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Wonderfully Entertaining Age Appropriate Love Story! *by H***N on Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2017* “Valensteins – A Love Story,” is a wonderful read that my six-year-old daughter can’t get enough of, we’ve read it 4 times every night since it arrived earlier this week. I also sent a copy to my In-Laws who have received it equally well.The book draws on the same wonderfully entertaining characters from “Fright Club,” and tackles a truly lovely subject matter, “Love.”Fran K. Stein is preparing a Valentine for his love interest. The other characters, (Witch, Mummy, Ghost, Vampire) just don’t know what to make of it.They don’t know what a heart is and are trying to guess.One of the more “mature” characters, a Bunny, understands and the group has a diversity of opinions about what love is and what it is worth.Ethan Long uses wonderfully detailed illustrations, and provides a light touch and humorous story that has a nice and valuable lesson in it about the nature of love.I recommend this book to anyone with small children, especially around Valentines Day or Halloween. I expect to be gifting this book for years to come. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For all the Fright Club fans out there!
