Milk thistle is something I like to use for liver support, and I was especially hopeful because this one includes a natural bacon flavor, which sounded like it might actually appeal to them. Unfortunately, my cats are not fans. Even when I mix it into their favorite wet food, they tend to avoid it. I was surprised, because I expected the flavoring to help, but it didn’t make much of a difference for my crew. I’ve had to get pretty creative to get them to even try it. The only method that’s worked for me so far is layering it. I’ll put the appropriate dose of the glycerite on a small portion of food first, then add about half a tube of Churu on top to mask the taste. After that, I crumble their favorite treats over it, usually freeze dried chicken breast or sometimes sprinkle in freeze dried green lipped mussels. Prepared this way, they’ll actually eat it. I’m going to keep trying because I do like the idea of this product and the benefits milk thistle can offer. That said, palatability has been a challenge in my household, and it definitely takes extra effort to make it work. Other cats might tolerate it better, but if you have picky eaters like I do, be prepared to get a little creative.
