Just wanted to confirm that is correct?** A: Don't put on any extra as you need a very thin layer just to fill any imperfections in the CPU or HSF. **Q: Will it replace an existing part that measures 80mm from screw to screw?** A: This is for socket LGA115 if your motherboard is that type it will fit. **Q: The box it came in was in a right state. looked second hand. are you sure this will cope with the heat from an i7 8700k? the box only said i3.** A: If you have already bought this i3 cooler it's a moot point but at the time it was introduced the bundled low profile cooler that came with the i7-8700k was tested and could not adequately cool the 8700 at full normal load let alone with the 8700k unlocked. It differs from the one you bought by having a copper disk at the contact point where yours is just aluminium. Using a good quality thermal paste (clean the back of the processor thoroughly first with Isopropyl alcohol and don't use too much paste), mounting this takes only a few seconds with a single click on each leg. Personally I do prefer the old way of mounting with screw points, but this is progress and is easy if you have the confidence.
