Review: Quality parasol - but needs an equally good base to make the most of it. - This was bought for my elderly mother, who likes to spend time sitting in the garden when the weather is nice, but who needs to be careful about getting too much exposure to the sun. This parasol is very easy to assemble and the quality : price ratio is very good. It is also very versatile - the height is adjustable, but impressively, you can also position the top section at an angle, so that you create the ideal level of shade required. The one slight downside is that you do need to make sure you have a decent base too - though this is not really the fault of the parasol. When the top of the parasol is in the angled position it does make it more susceptible to catching any breeze and can tip over. I originally bought a Strata GN351 Round 7 Litre Parasol Base (33cm diameter), which is ok, but not really big enough and / or heavy enough to support this parasol adequately in all circumstances, so I will be getting something more substantial in due course.

A: I think the standard hole is around one and a half inches in diameter. The pole is just over an inch across so it fits in easily. Hope this helps.
