It's a built-in bra. I haven't had any problems with the padding when I've washed it though. It's more comfortable than any of my bras. **Q: Is this top good if you have had a mas t ectomy?** A: I don't believe so, there isn't much padding. I ,also find the top rolls up on you. I own 2, but rarely wear, and wouldn't order anymore. I bought this top in hopes of wearing it as a workout top, but the only kind of workout I would wear it for is light yoga or stretching. It says there is a built in bra, but it's more like build in bra pads; There is no banding around the chest, right under the breasts, so it does not support like a bra or built in bras should. The padding is thick enough to cover any nipple poking and it adds a bit of shape, but it does not support the way a real built in bra should. At home I will wear it without a bra, but when I'm going out I will usually put a bra on so I can get that nice, supported look. (See photos: Pic 1- no bra, Pic 2- with bra) The color is a nice deep purple and it has stood up to many washings. The fabric is a bit thin, but breathable. I am a curvy girl, so I do like that this top has such a stretchy fabric. I wear a 36DD bra and the XL of this top fits quite well. The shipping took nearly two months for me to receive this product....maybe they were on back order or something, but they seller did not tell me that it would take so long to arrive. It is thin and is better as a layering piece rather worn alone. The built-in bra gives complete coverage. It's also comfortable to sleep in. I would love to have this top in many colors! My only complaint is the ridiculous amount of time it took to receive it. I didn't realize when I or it that it was shipping from China. Perfect, in fact. I'm 5'9" and 120 lbs so, I'm fairly thin. I ordered a large - which was perfect. This top's material is thick - of good quality. I got it in navy - and it's a true navy. The quality of this top is better than some business suit shells I've purchased at Macy's. I'm really happy with this top and am going to buy some more.
