I got a gtx 980 to hookup to my dell optiplex 3060 micro PC. I would get a black screen during bootup. When I booted up with integrated graphics and then plugged in the 980 I would get a distorted image of sorts. After I did a firmware update to the GPU the black screen during bootup went away. I had to install windows 11 and run a file called "firmware update for display port 1.4" from nvidia. The bios could recognize the gpu correctly now. The image cleared right up for ubuntu linux after I installed the nvidia driver. The driver install switched my windowing system from wayland to x11 which is weird. Anyways it's all good now and I'm running tons of games through steam/proton/wine on ubuntu linux! I bought this adapter specifically because of the way it mounts the oculink port. It fits perfectly into the empty VGA port slot on my dell optiplex 3060 micro. I can still fit my SSD into the sata with the regular plastic drive caddy thing. It fits almost perfect.
