Rebel Heart is everything I wanted and needed in the conclusion to a duet. It starts off immediately where Rebel Heir ends and takes off running."Life shouldn't be about constantly trying to prove that we're safe from getting hurt. Life should be about living with uncertainty while we watch beautiful sunsets with the people we love.I wasn't sure what to expect in this one. How are they going to play out this storyline? Will Rush stay with Gia? Will Gia flee? Whatever happens, you can be sure I'm not spoiling this goodness for you."Gia—My beautiful Gia. I loved her more than I thought I could handle."All I will say is that Rebel Heart is deliciously angsty as only Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland can do. As you may know, I didn’t love, love, love Rebel Heir, but I was still anxious for this one, because if anyone could turn me around, it was these two. Boy, did these two turn me around, not only that, inside out as well. This book was emotional, incredibly emotional and it was absolute perfection. Boy, have I cried a river over this one.“…And it’s normal to have doubts, because there is always uncertainty in life. We live every day knowing that there’s a possibility we could die. Yet, we get up every day and do what we need to do anyway. Life shouldn’t be about constantly trying to prove that we’re safe from getting hurt. Life should be about living with uncertainty while we watch beautiful sunsets with the people we love.”Don’t get me wrong, nothing bad happens, seriously, but what these two go through to get what they truly deserved tugged at every single heart string and some. I adored Rush with a passion in this book and was so taken with how responsible he was, how he weighed up everything and never took his decisions lightly. He was a man through and through, with a huge heart of gold, with a wise head on his shoulders and had learned from the mistakes that his father had made with him.“Don’t let eighteen years pass before you stop running, Rush.”Gia was her usual unfiltered self and I adored this about her. Gia was the perfect woman for Rush, she took no crap and said what was on her mind. It was this raw honesty between them that gives them the perfect, solid foundation to build their future on. I adored Gia’s relationship with her dad and the scenes between these two were just as emotional as those with Rush. Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward really dug deep in this book and pulled out one hell of an emotional arsenal and they certainly did a doozy on my heart.I was so glad that this book wasn’t predictable, they turned what for me, was a predictable first book into the unexpected and I lapped up every single word. I highlighted so much in this book, not just sentences, but huge paragraphs as my heart was fit to burst with what I was reading. It was no easy journey for either of them and I am glad that Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward kept it real, honest and raw.“There really was no more unfortunately in our story.”Rebel Heart picks up where Rebel Heir left off, thank god, and from the first to last word is fast paced, action packed and full of heart and emotion. I adore these two writers as both individuals and as a duo and cannot wait to see what comes next. ### ⭐⭐⭐ A bit disappointed with the conclusion, but as a duet still an enjoyable read. *by R***E on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2018* Man, how is it possible to write this review without giving away any spoilers, it's a bit of a tough one especially when it's a duet and the previous ended with a pretty big cliffhanger. But as duets go, that was expected to happen. Lies or well withholding truths is never a good premise for any relationship. You'll be on the edge of your seat as you go through the trials that Rush and Gia will face to finally get their HEA.Rebel Heir had me completely invested in this duet and as soon as that one ended, I was eager to get the conclusion for Rush and Gia. I was so nervous and a bit anxious to see how everything played out between them because honestly, it wasn't looking good at all. I was definitely expecting to get the same kind of feelings I had while reading Rebel Heir and it was bit disappointing when that wasn't the case. Overall. the duet is still a good read and I'm still an epic fan of the awesome writing duo that is Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. But I found myself rather disappointed with the actions of Rush and Gia.With the major conflict involving Rush's reactions, I think the way he handled it wasn't great and my heart broke for Gia. I was surprised to see something outweigh his love for Gia. And was continuously stringing her along, which I didn't think it was fair to Gia at all. I was pretty frustrated with his character in this one, he needed to look at the bigger picture and figure out what kind of life he wanted with Gia.And the few horrible assumptions that Gia made when it came to Rush was just a bit off-putting for me, a man who was all-hands-on-deck when it came to being the baby's father. Even going the lengths of setting up a nursery in his own home, how could you second guess that?
