There was enough yarn here to make 2 small blankets for my mini dachshunds. I didn't do anything fancy with the color changes, just picked up with a new color wherever the last one ended. Those 2 small blankets used up all the yarn with a little black left over since I only used the black for the borders. Overall, I'd say this yarn is OK quality. It's really pretty soft, and has held up very well in the washer and dryer. I didn't even put the blankets inside of a pillowcase, nor did I put the wash or dry cycles on delicate (because I didn't know at the time that that's recommended with crochet pieces), and they've both held up wonderfully. The only thing I can really complain about is that the yarn does split more easily while working with it than a lot of the other brands I've tried so far. So, while this kit would be great for a beginner, the splitting can be a pain if you're just starting out. I wouldn't say that's a deal breaker, though. I haven't done any amigurumi projects yet, but I'd guess that this kit would be a good choice for that as well if you're doing smaller stuffies.
