The Purple ones are the Buffing Pads, the Black ones are the polishing Pads, and there's a light Blue Ultra Fine Polishing Pad. They are available in this 'Waffle' Profile, or flat. They have 'Hookit' backs that hold them in place, and they hold up pretty good, as well. I've had mine for a couple of years. There's another 3M Pad you might want to check out; 3M's 4" Pads that hook to your 3" Backing Plate and angle out to 4"; you can use the sides of these pads for getting into tight spaces. Their 3M numbers are 3M-30041: Buffing, 3M-30042 Polishing, and 3M-3M30043 Ultra Fine Polishing. They also come two per plastic bag. Use each one these Pads with their corresponding Compound/Polish and you will get good results. **Q: Does the pad work with a hook & loop system. The backing plate is the rough side (hooks) which fastens to the soft side (loops) of pads - like velcro?** A: Hi Dhiren! Thank you for your question. The 3M 33285 Perfect-It Foam Polishing Pad uses the 3M 05752 Perfect-It Quick Connect Adapter. The adapter has a 5/8” thread to fit various rotary tools. https://www.amazon.com/3M-05752-Thread-Release-Adaptor/dp/B002SYSQWK/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=B002SYSQWK&qid=1595252162&sr=8-1 **Q: How many pads come in a pack?** A: I got 2 in each pack i ordered and these are the best 3 in pads ive found so far **Q: is this a white or black foam pad?** A: Here's a link to the 3M 'Paint Finishing Guide; this booklet will lay it out very clearly for you: https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/1101753O/perfect-it-ex-paint-finishing-brochure.pdf&fn=Paint%20Finishing%20Guide_60-4402-7884-8_V5_LR_2018_R2.pdf The White-capped bottle is the Buffing Compound, use it with the Purple Pad. the Black-capped bottle is the Machine Polish, use it with the Black Pad, the Light Blue-capped Bottle is the Ultrafine Machine Polish, use it with the light Blue Pad. Read the Brochure; it will lay the process out for you. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.hr/products/66741078-perfect-it-3m-foam-polishing-pad-33285-6-in-black](https://www.desertcart.hr/products/66741078-perfect-it-3m-foam-polishing-pad-33285-6-in-black) --- *Product available on Desertcart Croatia* *Store origin: HR* *Last updated: 2026-10-15*
