Terracotta Tapas Dishes - 16cm in diameter and 2cm deep. Made in Spain by Valdearcos Martos, S.A. One of Spains premier terracotta manufacturers Used in homes and restaurants across Spain for cooking and serving a whole variety of tapas dishes. All our tapas dishes from 10cm to 36cm are made in the same style, glaze and colour by the same manufacturer. If you are just getting into tapas or you are already a firm tapas lover and you are buying these and you feel you may be back at some point for more, if you buy from us they will definitely be the same in appearance and give you a matching set! When you use a classic terracotta cazuela to cook with, you will find it heats evenly, and retains the heat longer than any other dish. So when you bring your soup, stew, or sizzling garlic shrimp to the table in a cazuela, you guarantee that your creation will be served at its best. But cooking is not the only use for these handy dishes. They can be used to serve olives, almonds, and other tapas. Cazuelas are very versatile -- that's why they have been used since the time of the Romans! The glaze on the cazuela is perfectly safe for all applications -- it contains no lead. The dishes require simple seasoning (essentially soaking in water for a few hours) which renders them good for all applications: stovetop, oven or microwave. When cooking with terracotta, the key is to increase and decrease heat gradually to avoid cracking and shattering the dishes.

Soak them for 8 hours in cold water then let them dry upside down at room temperature for 24 hours before first use... DO NOT wash them before you have done this. NEVER, put them in the dishwasher, soak in clean hot water to loosen any stubborn bits then wash up by hand with a little bit of detergent, then rinse and again with clean cold water and allow to air dry. Do this and they will last decades.

A: As long as the enclosed care instructions are followed before first use then yes. No problem in the oven.

A: About an inch deep. Yes, they are perfect for gambas pil pil! :)

These are the EXACT same dishes used in my favourite tapas bar in Spain, they are brilliant, BUT, you have to follow the instructions exactly. Soak them for 8 hours in cold water then let them dry upside down at room temperature for 24 hours before first use... DO NOT wash them before you have done this. NEVER, put them in the dishwasher, soak in clean hot water to loosen any stubborn bits then wash up by hand with a little bit of detergent, then rinse and again with clean cold water and allow to air dry. Do this and they will last decades.

Took a bit of a gamble ordering these but it paid off they are really good quality and perfect for serving Tapas etc. We had a slight issue with the original order nothing major but we had excellent customer service and the issue was resolved very quickly with no hassle.
