The bags started to expand as soon as I put them into a large bowl of water and the square shape of the bags made it much easier for me (as an older person) to put in place against the garage door, rather than the 5 ft long very heavy expanded sausage style bags that are on the market. They arrived well packaged in a flat vacuum bag and can be used without putting into water first, for such things as a leak from a washing machine etc. and the instructions also state that they can be used to push into the entrance of a toilet soil pipe to prevent sewerage flooding up.
