    NOT A TUNA GAFF

THIS IS NOT A TUNA GAFF. This gaff may be fine for small inshore fish but it is way too weak and flimsy to be used on large, angry pelagic fish. I tried to gaff a 90 lb yellowfin with this thing and the hook part bent out and the gaff was unusable. I ended up having to fight that fish to exhaustion and lift it in the boat with my hands. I got extremely lucky and this would be an even angrier review if I had lost that fish. You get what you pay for. I learned my lesson and will not cheap out on a gaff again. Repeat - NOT A TUNA GAFF

    Broken in shipping but just so so.

We bought another of these before and though the quality doesn't look high, it was 'good enough'.  However, the USPS destroyed the second that I bought.  Broken in 2 places, taped back up and still delivered.  Ridiculous.  I'd still say that even if it is delivered in good condition - buy a better gaff.

Grip at end of handle is glued on but not very well. As another reviewer said theirs came off - so I tested mine as soon as I got it....sure enough with a few twists the grip started to come off.  The lanyard is merely glued to the wooden handle as well.  I re-glued the grip to the wooden handle with silicone and put a screw with flat washer thru the end to hold it and a new webbing lanyard.  Now is  nice gaff!
