I want to use it as a water heating coil on woodburning stove pipe** A: Many years ago I placed a 12x20” heat exchanger steel plate in my wood stove. It was very heavy duty and was controlled via temperature sensor and the wood stove stack. The hot water was recirculated to my oil fired furnace which would pick up any short falls on water temp by the aqua stat and fire the oil burner. A pressure relief valve is needed in case power fails and the wood stove doesn’t . Suddenly power comes on and the re-circulating pump gets a blast of steam. It worked well. So well that the auto-filling cycle based on heating degree days for my oil deliveries was thrown off significantly. Two years later we ran out of oil on the coldest weeks of winter since the oil company had re-calculated our usage based on the previous 2 years of minimal oil use. Just remember, a steel plate may handle these extreme heats in a fire box better than a lightweight stainless steel coil **Q: Is this good for a 15 gallon keggle?** A: The larger HERMS would be a better choice. The small HERMS is designed for 10 gallon kettles and smaller. **Q: I am replacing a copper coil and my 10 gallon kettle half inch holes are 7.25" center to center.
