**Q: What is the active ingredient?**
A: Boric Acid BP

**Q: Can it be trimmed it to size as needed and then soaked for a hot wet poultice after trimming to size?**
A: You can trim to size, soak and apply. It will not retain heat. I used as a treatment for access in my horse's hoof. I then wrap with vet flex then use a with a duct tape bandage.
