In my case the stop/start function stopped working, I suspected it was a battery issue but did not have any problems starting. It was in the middle of the first lockdown and the car had been in the garage for long periods of time, I thought the battery just needed a boost. I bought a smart charger and the traffic light adaptor. The traffic light was red, so I put the battery on charge it took 7 hours until it indicated full charge. A month later I was back in the same situation, the battery was 4 years old so I replaced it. I think the battery needs to be more than 80% charged for the stop/start to work. I noticed in hindsight that well known car accessory stores will perform an in depth check on the health of the battery, I should have gone down this route rather than buying the charger etc. The car hadn't moved since Friday, I tried the traffic light this morning and it was green. What it is great for though is being able to charge the battery through the 12v socket instead of having to attach cables to the battery. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Grea *by G***K on 27 December 2020* I bought this as an add-on to my CTEC charger as an emergency fix, because the engine compartment (bonnet/hood) lid has an electronic catch. If the battery fails you can't get to it to charge it directly as the catch doesn't work! Having this gadget allows a re-charge from inside the car and avoids the trouble of having to "jump" the catch from an auxiliary battery. So, it does what I want. I don't find the indicator lights particularly useful in assessing the state of the battery in so far as they're over-pessimistic and don't really align with those on the CTEC charger. There's plenty of charge in the battery when they're flashing amber and still enough to start the car when flashing red. Following the lights would have you charging the car all the time. I don't particularly like charging the battery through the cig-lighter/power point as it's running through the fuse box. I normally use the CTEC accessory lead with eyelets at one end that you permanently connect to the battery and a CTEC connector trailing out of the battery box at the other to connect to the charger.
