Aqua Algae Guillard’s F/2 Formula is a concentrated phytoplankton culture fertilizer formulated for preparing marine microalgae culture medium. This solution is intended for use when culturing marine phytoplankton strains such as Nannochloropsis and Tetraselmis, and is designed to be mixed with prepared saltwater as part of a separate culture setup. Product Specifications: Based on the standard Guillard’s F/2 formulation and contains vitamins B1, B12, biotin, and trace minerals used in phytoplankton culture. Silicate-free composition. At the suggested mixing rate, one 16 fl oz bottle prepares approximately 473 liters, or about 125 gallons, of culture medium. Suggested Use: 1. Add 1 mL of F/2 formula per 1 liter of prepared saltwater. Recommended specific gravity: 1.019. 2. Introduce your phytoplankton starter culture. 3. Provide illumination for 16 to 24 hours per day with gentle aeration. 4. Monitor culture development and harvest according to your standard phytoplankton culture routine. Culture timing may vary. Used this to culture some Pyrocystis/bioluminescent dinoflagellates and its working well, the new cultures I made with the ferts are vigorous and healthy. Not sterile so take some caution but that's easy enough to overcome.
