Or, even better, can it work with a 12 or 24 volt DC source?** A: These lights are designed to be plugged into AC and will not direct connect with DC. From what I understand a square wave inverter tends to make things run hotter than a sine wave inverter, from some of the comments/reviews these run hot on direct AC power so I would be careful using a square wave inverter. I would contact the mfg and ask them if they sell a DC version (I would be interested in that as well). I have not purchased these units yet but they are on my list of items to try. **Q: What wire size is recommended?** A: It is 110volt, so I used just 14 gauge wire and just been doing great since I put it in 10 months ago. I used the wire from the old fluorescent tube light I replaced.
