I have some other thermal carafes that wear not as hot after two hours, so I think this one would keep it hot for at least six with no issues. It is very solid feeling, steel inside, and outside with plastic lid and handle. The lower part of the pump unit that pulls the liquid up is metal, whereas the actual pump in the lid is plastic. All very solid. Easy to operate. Several bragged on it and loved the color as well, it's kind of a bronze look, top and trim are black. It also has a wheel underneath like a Lazy-Susan, allowing it to spin. There was no odd taste to the coffee, which is what i expected. I do however always let things like this soak overnight with baking soda and white vinegar inside and then wash good with dawn or dish soap. I have since used it again for Sunday dinner with my family as my coffee pot doesn't make a lot, I manage dot get 4 15oz cups out of it so now I grind the beans, brew and pour and then do it again to make sure the 5 or 6 of us all have enough for a big cup. I had a couple events recently I made a special blend of coffee to serve multiple people with, and this was exactly what I needed. It kept the coffee pretty hot for a few hours. By the end of a 10-hour day, the coffee was still warm - not hot, but notably not cold, either. It can be a bit challenging to clean but I think that would be true of any similar product.
