Don't get me wrong, it does have particle board reinforcement (which almost all furniture does these days) but the main trim pieces are real wood. I looks great and arrived well packaged. Even so, it has a couple of small scratches on the bottom of one side which had to occur in the factory because there was no damage to the shipping box. There are also some minor imperfections in the finish, but not enough for me to downgrade the my rating. Overall the piece is quite nice. Just a note: it does not have a bottom cover, so anything that falls out of the drawers from the back will end up on the floor. Also, it is a perfect size to put a changing pad on top. I did notice that the price has increased close to $100.00 since purchased, maybe i lucked out and found it on sale.
