Review: Seat shape and softness was uncomfortable after prolonged use, but this company solved the problem! - Update: A representative from Colamy reached out to me via phone (impressive) and asked if they could help me due to this unhappy review. A friendly lady told me someone would be emailing me for a solution within 48 hours. I had an email from Colamy the next day and a fellow named David asked me what they could do to help. I wasn't sure, but had noticed online that another chair of theirs, the "Hina" seemed to solve the majority of the complaints I had with the Atlas. I offered to return the Atlas in exchange for the Hina and pay the difference, but after one more email to confirm, Colamy just rushed the Hina to my home free of charge and let me keep the Atlas as well. This is the best customer service I've ever had from anyone. THANK YOU COLAMY! That was not expected. The 5 Star rating is for the Company! You earned a long time customer. Because you care. The Atlas itself gets an extra star bringing it to a 3. I changed it because I was a bit harsh in my initial review, considering I was sitting in a $1400 chair previously, that is finally just now worn out. The Atlas is still a great value at it's price point for less than $300. It does have a ton of adjustment, and is better than a lot of other chairs on desertcart, especially for people that are lighter, smaller, or sit less hours per day. For me it was the soft convex seat on the Atlas that I disliked most. Others may like it, but the firmer flatter seat on the Hina is much better for my body. I will leave a full review of that model in another review in 2 weeks. I left my review for the Atlas mostly in tact below, but I removed some of the harsher commentary as it was unnecessary and more reflective of my mood at the time. My criticisms of the Atlas are the same, but less colorful. This review is for my experience with the Colamy Atlas in Dark Grey. After doing tons of research online, I finally settled on this chair as the replacement for my worn out Humanscale office chair that was bought used many years ago at an office liquidation sale. I decided on the Atlas because it is highly recommended on many review websites and had all the features I wanted on a sub $300 budget. The box came a day early and the set up was done in less than 30 minutes. My initial feeling was that the chair was decently constructed. When I sat down on it it felt nice and comfy at first. This was day one. My feelings about this chair have decreased each day since then as my prolonged use has exposed an array of problems. I will list the flaws in order of least importance first. The initial flaw is the lumbar support bracket. It's virtually useless and the chair would be better off without it. I can already see visible wear where it rubs the back of the mesh material and it doesn't line up flush in every position meaning it is always poking you slightly in the back whether up or down. It's not terrible, but is noticeable. The second flaw is the mesh back itself. Although, I did find the back extremely comfortable and the shape is nearly perfect to my spine.... It literally eats loose weave fabrics. Materials like terry cloth bathrobes, sweaters, and others soft, or fuzzy weave items will be leaving themselves behind in your new chair's backrest. The issue is that as the mesh expands as you lean back it lets fibers pass through and when you sit up those gaps close and rip out a small bit of the said garment. (Appearently this is a common thing with mesh back chairs) Now I know. Not really an exclusive flaw of the Atlas, just a characteristic of mesh backs. Not a huge deal, but be aware. The arm rests do adjust nicely, but they are too hard and need to be positioned lower than normal in order to take off some of the resting pressure on your forearms. My elbows and under arms were going numb after an hour or two before I made the adjustment. Thankfully, my desk is also adjustable, and although this helped, it did not solve the problem of the arm rests being a bit to hard. Now, on to the larger issues for me. The control lever for the height position is in the worst place imaginable and is further worsened by the angle and shape of the knob, a square piece of plastic that sticks out and jabs you in the calves or back of the knee. If you put your legs back beneath the chair, which you will find yourself doing often, because of the chairs number one problem... The instability of the seat itself. The number one problem is the feeling of instability in the seat itself. It does a good job at first because it feels soft, but long hours of being seated reveal multiple problems, including poor quality, less dense foam that causes you to feel like you are sitting on a bar stool. This is difficult to explain, but it is partially the shape of the seat itself and the material combined. It feels convex, not concave. It doesn't hug you or support you on the edges at all. Which makes you feel like your always falling out of the chair, making you curl your legs underneath yourself for stability, yet somehow it also manages to roll up under the front of your legs. It was an awful seating experience for me and after 2 weeks of using the chair the back of my legs were sore. In the end, Colamy was awesome and sent me a different chair better suited to my body type. Thank God they stand behind their products and really want their customers to be comfortable and happy.
Review: Lower Back & Hip Pain - I have lower back and hip pain when sitting for extended time. I need a firm chair to help combat my pain. The first month everything seemed good. By the second month the chair became increasingly uncomfortable and painful to sit in. Week 10, I can no longer sit in the chair, because my back and hips will hurt the rest of the evening. I went back to my old chair........

Well built and easy to assemble. Had now for several months. I only wish the base could tilt back, but works well enough for me.
