I am a white, 26 year old female and I have had skin problems since i was four years old. My theory is that i am highly allergic to mosquito/insect bites, which cause a lot of itching, and then i scratch the skin, which then gets infected and ultimately i am left with scars all over my legs. Some are brown, some lighter, some darker, some just really damaged skin without a discoloration. To this day, all the dermatologist i have seen not only have not been able to give me a diagnosis or improve my skin condition, but some of them made it worse. On top of this, i have really dry, dark knees that no amount of scrubbing and moisturizing has been able to solve. To add to all these, i have dry eyes, and migraines. I did some blood tests and I was not deficient in Vitamins, but with my history of medical doctors, i stopped trusting them (and no, you cannot blame me).Well, two weeks ago i started taking the Biotin. Today, I noticed my eyelashes are fuller and longer. I checked my legs and the dark patches on my knees are lighter, the surface smaller, and not as dry. My scars are lighter (this deserve a celebration as hundreds of dollars spent on lightening creams, coconut oil, Scaraway patches- you named it, i tried it, and still did not work) and my skin is smoother generally. And my nails are stronger and do not break as much. I also do not have to use eye drops as often as I used to, and my headaches have improved a lot. On another good note (which i am not sure if it is related) i am losing a few pounds.The only con that i had, was that my face broke out (the T zone) while i was PMS-ing, and usually i do not. But it is a small price to pay for a few days only. I do recommend it, highly so, but based on my experience I also know that what works for someone, does not work for someone else. Unfortunately, you will have to try and decide for yourself and this may take some time. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Extremely Satisfied User *by on Reviewed in the United States December 5, 2011* I decided to wait several months before writing a review for this product because I wanted to be able to give a full description on it's impact to my hair / health. I've been taking Biotin since August and have been very happy with the results. I am bi-racial (mother white / father black) with thick, curly hair. For the last 10years I have straighten my hair... the first 5 years chemically and with heat, the last 5 years only with heat. I put heat on hair everyday... every single day. As you can imagine, my hair was breaking a lot and it growing unevenly and slowly. For the most part, I couldn't get it to grow past the top of my shoulders. I decided to try this product after receiving a recommendation from a stylist.The first change I noticed after taking Biotin was my nails grew thicker and quicker. My nails have always been rather brittle and would break and split. For years I wore acrylics or would keep them really short. I no longer have those problems. While I do not keep my nails long, they are much tougher and stronger.It took about 1-1.5mths before I noticed an impact on my hair. This could be because I got a bad hair cut (by a different stylist) shortly before trying Biotin. Overall, my hair is growing much quicker and fuller. It has a really nice sheen and is very thick. Even my family and friends have commented on my hair growth.I have not noticed an impact on my skin. I have never been prone to acne and haven't had any problems with it since I started Biotin.Overall, I would highly recommend this product and already have to friends. Just be warned that is not some miracle drug that will give you hair like Rapunzel. It does take time to have an effect on hair. I plan on continuing for the foreseeable future. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Long fingernails for the first time EVER! *by on Reviewed in the United States April 22, 2011* I decided to try adding Biotin to my daily supplements after reading that it often helps with thinning hair. I chose the Now brand because it's attractively priced and I've been satisfied with the quality of their products.It's probably too early to judge as far as my hair, but I really haven't seen any difference in the month I have been taking it. My fingernails are a different story, though. Wow! I have long, strong fingernails for the first time ever.I take one capsule twice daily, as directed on the bottle. The capsules are not huge and I've had no stomach upsets even though I take them on an empty stomach.My nails have always been weak, thin, and prone to peeling and breaking. I am an avid DIYer with an old house and I constantly have some sort of project going on that is murder on fingernails - grouting tile, stripping furniture, heavy yard work, etc. I kept my nails cut extremely short because if I let them grow at all, they would split and tear immediately. I've tried the polishes and oils that claim to strengthen weak nails but they had no effect.In the month that I have been taking Biotin, my fingernails have not split, peeled or broken once and they are long for the first time ever! They are thick and strong and I'll bet I could carve my initials in a tree with them. LOLIn the scheme of things, long fingernails are not high on my list of priorities but I am certainly enjoying having long, feminine nails. I suspect that I will see improvements in my hair over time, too, since hair and nails are made of the same structural proteins called keratins, but so far I see no difference.
