This stuff is incredibly sticky and the cat would track it everywhere. I needed Mineral Sprits to remove it from stone. **Q: Will it harm plants?** A: it works when applied to the trunk of a mature tree to keep ants off. i am not sure if it would damage foliage. **Q: Can it be used like regular caulk?** A: These are a standard sized caulk tubes and will fit in any standard caulk gun. I used my Ryobi One+ caulk gun to apply to a long ridge where birds were hanging out. THE BIRDS WOULD SIT ON THE WROUGHT IRON FENCE OF MY PATIO OHH ...10 TO 12 BIRDS AT A TIME ON 2 SIDES OF MY 4 SIDED FENCE, ON THE REGULAR AND JUST DO THEIR BUSINESS LIKE IT WAS LITERALLY A BATHROOM. I NEVER UNDERSTOOD THAT GROUP THING. ANYWAY, I WENT NUTS TRYING DETERRANTS...PREDATOR DECOYS, SPINNERS, OILS, SPRAYS, HOME REMEDIES...YOU NAME IT. I HESITATED TRYING THIS GEL FOR FEAR OF BIRDS GETTING STUCK AND THE MESS. HERE IS THE REVIEW WITH THE CAVEATS THAT PREVENT IT FROM BEING A 5 STAR ITEM.
