There was just something nice about being able to cradle the camera in one hand and adjusting the lens in the other. That, and the heft of the camera was an old habit that was hard to break. I've never felt comfortable holding a little, lightweight phone and taking pictures. More often than not a finger or thumb covers the lens because the lens is not in front of the viewfinder.I researched and purchased this Shoulderpod Rig after a recent vacation, where most members of my tour group were using their smart phones and were taking beautiful pictures. I knew I had to get with the times.While I haven't used the rig on a trip yet, I have played around with it and I can say that it securely holds my iphone as the metal screw mechanism seems extremely solid. This is important, as if you use the wrist strap (which makes sense) you want to know your phone isn't going to fall out.The real wood grip is a nice touch these days, as plastic seems to be the material of choice for just about everything. It looks good and it feels good in the hand. I was concerned that it might be too small, but once I started playing with it, it is just right.The ability to add a microphone for video with the accessories is an bonus. This product has enough "adaptability" to meet just about anyone's needs.I looked at alternatives that cost a quarter as much, but I really don't think I would have been satisfied with them. And I am extremely happy witness build quality. Modularity - it can be set up in multiple ways to attach a range of accessories..My only complaint is that I bought it via amazon prime. Paid a high cost for a high quality item.. on top of an expensive monthly subscription to amazon and the package I received was already opened and the item itself scratched.Disappointed but I’m not petty enough to return it for a new one, as that’s not it’s purpose.
