The AC compressor clutch bearing went bad and snapped the old belt. So i simply just replace the bearing with an aftermarket one made for the liberty, but only difference was that the clutch part was a little bitty tinier... i didn't think it'd be a big deal woth the new sepertine belt... So i chosed to order a Continental Elite gatorback..While the gatorback was more pricier and definitely stronger built IMO, the length of 87.5" ...it happened to be just a bit too large.. It made the new clutch bearing i replaced make noises (making me believe i had a bad part) and the tension make slight radom noises as secondary...and when the AC was turned on, the belt vibrated in the area between the tensioner and AC compressor.... I've looked around and found the sepertine size is correct for normal stock parts for these jeeps ...but sometimes when some parts gets swapped in the bearing areas, the belt might need to go smaller.....i kept researching and came across that these gates belt ranned smaller... around 86.25" ? ...also some people swore by them too.... after i installed it in, it worked PERFECT...and all those noises went away too...YEAH, that little change of size made a big difference in making it all quiet and smooth LoL. And as stated earlier, the continental elite IMO is a stronger and thicker build belt....but this gates belt is decent quality built too...definitely not crap, especially for the price of i payed ..$16 in desertcart. Idk how to say it, but the Elite seems more beefier and thicker and Gates is not as beefier and thicker...However, it is still is quality built SOLID belt....and so far its been good....i will update if anything bad happens....but if I haven't updated, that means everything is still going good. But so far, i wished i bought this belt first..its worth for its quality for the price and i believe others can't go wrong with this 1.
