The iFilters LWHSD Whole House Water Filter reduces dirt, sand, silt, rust and scale particles and has a flow rate of Up to 8 gallons per minute (gpm). The iFilters LWHSD Meets the water demands of many homes and light commercial applications. The clear housing allows for easy viewing of the cartridge performance. With the built in Pressure Relief button directly above, changing filters is easier as the pressure is reduced in the housing. The iFilters LWHSD can be installed at the point of entry line to your home or at the point of use next to your washing machine, water heater, or under your kitchen sink to extend the life of your appliances. The iFilters LWHSD internal filter only allows the OEM SG5-2509 for better filtration results. Specs: Designed and assembled in California, built from Certified Components. 3/4" Female NPT Ports. Convenient built in Pressure Relief button. 5 micron rated filtration. Multi-stage filter construction maximizes dirt-holding capacity. Review: Needs handyman skills to install, would not recommend for the weekend diy-er. - I am on well water and the water comes out yellow and orange. There's rust in it. I also live in an apartment and don't have access to the water main that feeds the house. To keep my clothes from turning urine-colored yellow, I got these. The threads on these are 3/4NPT aka garden hose, which is the same as the washer and dryer connections. Just needed some 3/4" brass nipples to hook up the hoses. (Yes that's really what they're called). As a previous reviewer mentioned, you need to use plumber's putty on the threads instead of Teflon tape. I used some with additive for ABS plastic, that's what the base appears to be made from. You also need to screw your connector all the way in, until the threads bottom out, or else it'll leak. So far it's been about a month, no leaks and my clothes aren't turning yellow. So the sediment filters are working. The filter doesn't seem to care about being hooked to hot water either.
Review: Great filtering! - The filter is easy to install. We did have a leak during the initial test run and issue was solved by using Loctite Clear Silicone waterproof sealant (blue tube) on the shark bite fittings that were installed onto the filter housing. As you can see from the images, this filter works. It was installed around Christmas, pic taken January 29th. I don't know what that gross yellow stuff even is but I'm glad it's being removed. We plan to change our filters monthly based on this. Definitely worth it thus far. I will be recommending these to family.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Does not fit standard sized filters without modification! Read review.

BUYER BEWARE: this water filter system will not fit standard 10" x 2.5" water filters! This company - Ifilters, has very sneakily manufactured this filter housing to fit a filter that only they make, they measure 9.25" so that you have to buy them from them at a higher price than the aftermarket ones. You can get aftermarket ones and cut them, but it's the principal that turns me off. So unless you're willing to pay their price for their special sized filter, or buy your own aftermarkets and cut them, which isn't really a huge deal, go with something else. Other than that the filter housing itself works fine. This model doesn't have a bypass valve. So make sure you have water shut off valves on either side of the filter housing and a way to release the pressure. I'll keep it and just by aftermarket filters and cut them to size, but I feel a little violated and misled. I guess that's what I get for not buying name brand.
