He went off to find self adhesive escutcheons, we never heard from him again! These aren't self adhesive but we also purchased some sticky pads for external use and cut these to shape. Have fitted these nicely, the screw holes are visible when the cover is lifted but not noticeably and it finishes the keyholes off nicely and better than the cheap flat escutcheons the locksmith left behind. It covers the keyhole as it should but there's a gap of about 2 mm between the cover and the escutcheon so it doesn't stop draughts.
