But the L2's 2.1:1 gear ratio and 21 lbs. of max drag proved to be just the thing needed to get some traction on the combined force of the fish and kite. If the weight of a reel is a critical factor for you, this might not be the reel for you. Specs list it as weighing 44 ounces. Review: Good quality - Unfortunately Penn reels are not made in America anymore this one is made in China however it seems to be very well made, only time and a very large fish will tell.
