I used Tee nuts and 3/4in beveled coarse screws to attach to wood. I Dadoed out approx 1/8 off back to make space for teenuts. I would not trust the 1/2inch screws if you load hooks like this. Hung on studs and added drywall toggle bolts on the ends because I was between studs. It holds very well and I like the look. The pronounced pilltop shape is great for motorcycle helmets as you can see. basically 6 inch spacing. I set my end space for first and last hook and split difference for the remaining 8 hooks. I had a older ikea 5 hook that was overloaded and I lack closets in my living space. Review: Great hooks be careful with finish - These are very sturdy and way cheaper than buying separately in a big box hardware store. my drill slipped and I accidentally nicked the hook and the finish cracked off. Nothing a little sharpie couldn’t fix though. That’s my bad, not the product. Just giving a head’s up.
