I think the one star folks are using it incorrectly. It is made specifically to cradle your head and neck to keep the spine aligned. It is NOT to lift the head, so READ before you buy!! ADDED PLUS is that either side of the pillow has built in arm rest that is SO COMFY when I turn to side sleeping. With the arm rest, the shoulder pressure is gone! Also, the pillow is not too soft, and does not puff out and cover half your face when on your side. It is soft, but firm so my face is still exposed while side sleeping. That was important to me.It does have a manufacturer's smell, but after a one day airing, it is gone. I cannot emphasize enough that this pillow really is great for those with cervical trouble. Mine is C5 C6 C7, and the pressure is gone as soon as my head is cradled, it is an AHHHHHHhhhhhh moment when I lay on my back.I hesitated at the price, but I would not hesitate to buy now; and again, Iove the way the arm rests are built in. Its supposed to be memory foam the only thing it remembered was how flat it was when I got up in the morning. I do not have pets and my daughter never touched it. I gave it a couple more nights of trying to sleep on it and finally gave up. Sending it back because its not worth 50 bucks. The more I tried to use it the flatter the middle became.
