It took a few weeks of practice and maybe required the grains to get fully established. Now my batches of kefir are thick and creamy, and the grains are expanding. It improved when I used full fat milk, but now it seems to work with semi-skimmed. I can recommend them if you are prepared to keep trying until you succeed.
