Review: Good knife for the price - There are a lot of pros and cons with this knife. First the pros, it seems well made. . The blade is a good quality steel, 440C. It is comfotable in the hand. No guard but that's ok. Handle is slip resistance rubber type material., rough to prevent slipping when wet. The edge is a good grind which is hard to do on a dagger type blade. The sharpness needs to be better and soon will be. The serrated section at the base of of the blade is about 1 1/2 in. long. For me this was a waste of time. These are generally very sharp out of the box. After the 1st couple of uses they dull and can never be resharpened to that factory edge. Now the cons. The sheath is worthless! Get a better one if you buy this knife. Kydex, leather, anything but this stuff. This nylon corduro makes good bags but terrible sheaths. The knife is handle heavy, not a very good balance. It is advertised as a " survival " knife. It is not that. I would call this a combat/ fighting knife. A survival knife is designed to handle anything in the wild. It has to be tough, strong and capable of handling abuse. This one won't do that. Kabar Marine Corp knife is what I consider a great survival knife, the Cold Steel SRK is a great survival knife. This one doesn't even come close to those. A dagger point like this is aways a weak point on a knife. It will snap off. The hardness of the blade is listed at 60. That's a very high hardness making the blade subject to chipping or breaking. But overall for the price this isn't a bad knife. Just don't take this into a survival situation.
Review: Only the price is cheap - *bought mine before the upgraded handle* I think I got mine for $13ish. I just wanted a cheap knife to "use and abuse" not expecting to receive a knife that went from "throw away" to "stow away". I was happy with the price before I got the knife and even happier after I got the knife. I know this isn't 'Excalibur' quality materials but I'm very pleased with what it is. My non-upgraded handle is still a great handle, I was never worried about slipping up and cutting my hand. For the knife, the weight and shape of the handle is just right for "centered" holding. I really like the dual blade style with the "drain" grooves, mine came a little rough but not enough to dissuade me from loving it. The blade material is sharp otb and is easy to give a quick sharpening to without having to use the full on sharpening kit. I like the serrated section, but imo the serration would be better if it was full length or close to full. As long as you're not trying to go "Rambo" with this knife or chopping trees down or tying to pry open everything possible then you have a very handy and useful knife. Great for most average household and camping tasks and some self defense, this is the knife for that. I just might have to buy another one now.

There are a lot of pros and cons with this knife. First the pros, it seems well made. . The blade is a good quality steel, 440C. It is comfotable in the hand. No guard but that's ok. Handle is slip resistance rubber type material., rough to prevent slipping when wet. The edge is a good grind which is hard to do on a dagger type blade. The sharpness needs to be better and soon will be. The serrated section at the base of of the blade is about 1 1/2 in. long. For me this was a waste of time. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Clone of old SOG Desert Dagger

This is a clone of the old SOG Desert Dagger without the guard and an economy sheath. It's probably made in the same factory with at least the same tooling. Steel is ok, doesn't roll or chip easy so it might be 440C, which makes this dagger an excellent buy. The sheath is functional enough. The lack of a guard detracts from the knife and makes it unsafe from it's main function, but it's still a 4 star knife. This is a razor sharp fighting knife along the lines of a Gerber Mark II or an Applegate Fairbairn. Putting a guard on the hilt wouldn't be so hard: one would simply remove the handle from the tang and slide guard on and then put the handle back on. It needs a guard. Because this knife is so sharp it should only be used as is with slash proof gloves if used for its intended purpose. This is a waste as a hunting or fishing knife. This dagger isn't for bushcraft. Only ignorant children throw knives. But as a fighting blade this would do it. It needs a guard. Getting a guard fabricated and put on it would run $20 - $30. A decent sheath would run another $30 - $40. But what you would be left with would be equivalent to a Gerber Mark II. This knife is made of decent materials, the grind is adequate enough, the factory edge as is will get the job done. Trying to pry anything with this knife or roughly abuse it isn't the best idea, just as doing so with a Gerber isn't a great idea. Both will lose the tip and break. But if this is your last line of defense and you're competent in the use of a fighting knife, you'll be adequately served. Does everyone need a fighting knife? No. Especially not children. Is it a good idea to stock up on a quality knife, as a last ditch or beater, when they are available and you know how to use this type of knife? Maybe. It seems a lot of old, big name discontinued knives are now being manufactured with generic names (or cloned) and being made available to the public at bargain prices. There is a reason why these knives were discontinued: lack of market or change in tastes. Other established knives are still in production but being cloned. Clones are viable, working alternatives to knives others only buy to stash away and never use.
