### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works perfectly with MSR Whisperlite Universal

*by D***E on August 23, 2018*

I got this to use with my MSR Whisperlite Universal to make it a bit more convenient when I use it for frontcountry camping. There were no modifications required and I tested for leaks by submerging everything underwater, the seals are good and you don't have to over-tighten any connections to get a good seal. The threads are cut cleanly and screwed on without any issues even to an old propane tank I had with a little rust on the threads. Regarding venting during attachment, yes, it vents gas while screwing it on for maybe 1/2-3/4 of a turn. That's no different than actually attaching a canister. It does vent a little more on the Lindal side than the propane side, so if it bothers you attach the lindal side to your stove first, then the propane side. Still, you shouldn't be attaching/detaching fuel bottles near other open flames or while smoking anyway.Keep in mind that the pressure inside propane bottles is going to be higher than in isopro/butane canisters, thus why they're thicker and heavier; so opening the valve wide open on your stove could result in the gas outrunning the stove and actually blowing the flame out, at which point you have flammable gas venting out of the burner around potentially glowing hot metal. I opened the valve all the way on my MSR stove and even with the full propane bottle laying on its side feeding liquid I didn't have any issues, but a stove without a preheat tube for the fuel and a different design may have issues. This doesn't mean you'll get a smaller flame though, the higher pressure just means you'll get the same size flame at a lower valve setting. This isn't a problem or an issue, just something to be aware of. It'd be pretty hard to do accidentally, just don't hook everything up and throw a pot on it for the first time and crank the valve open all the way without knowing how your stove will work. It's pretty obvious when your giving the stove too much gas. Also remember that the large propane bottles are bulky and too heavy to be of much use when actually backpacking, for that I'd stick to liquid fuel or proper backpacking style canisters. But for those times when you want your stove to pull double duty as more of a camp stove than a backpacking stove this saves money over canisters (which I almost never use on the MSR anyway) and is more convenient than white gas (my usual fuel) as there's no priming required. The generic propane canisters are cheap and can be refilled from larger propane tanks, there's even a type now that's made to be refilled although with a little knowledge and some safety precautions the standard type can be refilled easily as well. This also connects fine to Pocket Rocket style stoves, but I wouldn't recommend it as you're elevating the stove quite a bit on a narrow, unstable base. This really works well with remote-canister style stoves, and if you don't need liquid fuel capabilities you can pick up a generic one for <$20 here on Amazon and if you're running it on propane canisters the small weight penalty shouldn't matter to you.Overall I'd recommend this to anyone that has a remote-canister style stove that ever uses it outside of backpacking. It makes your stove even more versatile and unlike isopro/butane canisters the regular propane canisters will even run in cold weather due to the higher vapor pressure of pure propane.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Useful adapter

*by D***P on August 22, 2018*

I use this with a Kovea Spider stove and Thermacell Backpacker mosquito repeller when family/car camping. While a larger propane camp stove is used for the primary stove, the ability to have a compact, lightweight extra burner for boiling water or making toast is great and with this adapter I don't need to bring multiple kinds of fuel - everything will now run off the green propane bottles used by the camp stove. Also, while the Thermacell can work with the inexpensive Coleman isobutane canisters, it needs to be threaded on very tightly to engage the lindal valve. The connection is much better using this adapter and a green propane bottle. It's worth noting that some propane does escape while attaching the adapter, but as long as the adapter is used outdoors and you are aware of what's around you it's not much of a concern.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well made, versatile propane / lindal adapter

*by A***P on November 1, 2018*

As soon as I received this item I had to try it out using a MSR Windpro II stove. The adapter worked well with the propane bottle in the upright position so only gas vapors are delivered to stove. If the bottle is placed on its side, liquid propane is delivered to the stove requiring very intricate adjustments of the control valve to avoid flare-ups. Remember propane is under a much higher pressure than butane or isobutane canisters.
