Once the striker fails, that's it. A decent flint lighter has at least better longevity.This particular unit is somewhat small, obviously intended for pocket carry. Though the construction appears metallic, with the weight reinforcing this view, it is not entirely accurate. The metallic portion is merely the outer shell. Upon disassembly, I found the interior composed of plastic.The lighter is very cheaply and simply constructed. The exterior metal shell is press fitted and held in place by a single screw. The plastic wheel controlling the flame size is press fitted onto a stem. The flint striker housing is press fitted (as I explain in the Q&A section), but the flint is replaceable.The unit measures approximately 3.5" tall, by 0.7" wide; by 0.35" thick.There is a lever on the side, it is necessary to pull down on the lever to light the lighter. Once finished with the lighting task, push the lever up to extinguish the flame. I once inadvertently left the the lever down and drained the lighter.Disassembled, the butane reservoir is a white semi-opaque plastic. Under a strong backlight it appears to be less than half the volume of a Bic lighter. But it is at least refillable.I will continue to use the lighter and see how it holds up. I have already replaced the flint once but the press fitted flame adjust wheel concerns me. The lighter has already outlasted a cheap electronic lighter. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great rapid-light pocket torch, but dies after 3 months. *by S***S on December 17, 2018* This is a great little lighter... while it lasts.PROS:- If you are a restaurant worker who needs to light that dessert bday candle on the fly, this lighter's little torch works quickly.- Wind can't extinguish this lighter.- It has a strike flint. Strike flints are better than electric flints because electric flints seem to break much more quickly than strike flints.- It's refillable.- It looks good, if you want a simple, thin lighter with a discreet torch.CONS:- If you are a restaurant worker who needs to light many candles in a row, this lighter works poorly -- the torch mechanism fails shortly after you let it get too hot, and you're left with a permanently-weak flame (like a dying disposable lighter).- I am on my third purchase for this lighter. It keeps breaking after about 3 months of regular use (the flame loses all torchy-ness and gets weak). After the 1st one broke, I thought maybe I'd damaged it by letting it overheat. I made sure not to do that with the 2nd one, but it still died after about 3 months. (The pros make it worth continuing to buy it, for me.)- There's no viewing window for the butane to help you verify the fuel level. You don't know it's empty until it stops working, and it's hard to tell when you've finished filling it (just wait for that cold flash).Overall, I like this lighter. It's effective and pocket-friendly. I just wish something could be done about this manufacturer's planned obsolescence. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best torch lighter EVER *by A***C on July 25, 2017* Finally! I have purchased over a dozen lighters in the last year. I prefer butane, but if they have electronic ignition they ALL punk out, usually quite quickly. Finally figured out that flint wheel ignition is the only dependable one. I love my old zippo, but butane with flint ignition is my choice now and forever. Never heard of this company before, but I will be a loyal customer from now on. Great product, fast service.
