    For the price, love it

I was able to grab one of these when they had it priced at $489. Amazing guitar for that kind of money. The finish is a little darker than how it looks in the pictures, which I am very happy about. Plays great and sounds great right out of the box, but I'm probably going to take it in for a setup to fine tune. The intonation sounds right, but I think the action could be lowered a bit. Overall the guitar looks great. The only two parts that really look cheap are the black tuning pegs and the truss rod cover. I was worried about the pickups looking cheap, but they are fine. I switched out the truss rod cover, added a black and white 5 ply pickguard, and changed the knobs to the black top hats with metal inlays. Now it really looks sharp. If this is your first Gibson or higher quality guitar and you're coming from say an Epiphone or Squier, be prepared for a change in weight. It's not horrible, but it did hurt my shoulder and arm after about an hour. That being said, I was using a standard 2" strap, I would think a wider one would provide better weight displacement and support. The gig bag that it comes with is actually very nice. Very padded. However, I still opted to buy a Gibson hard case.Only other negative I could say is that I ordered this when all the winter storms were going on, and it shipped from Pennsylvania. When it arrived (in Florida), the frets on the edge of the guitar were protruding just slightly enough to make it hard to pick up the guitar by the neck without it feeling like it was cutting me. No doubt this was due to the cold dry air shrinking the fretboard. After a couple days in 40-50% humidity and applying some Fret Doctor, the fretboard is fine now. I would say just be aware of how much humidity can impact a guitar, and that it doesn't mean that there's something wrong with it when you get it.One other note: I was looking into swapping out the pickup covers with chrome ones. With these particular pickups, you can't just swap out the cover like most humbuckers, because they built the height control into the plastic. You would have to add the bracket to the pickup and then add a chrome cover. However, after researching what people said on the interwebs, the pickups do not have the metal posts that would stick through the holes on a Gibson chrome cover. So in essence if you want that classic chrome Gibson pickup look, you would have to buy all new pickups. Wasn't worth it for me. Guitar still looks solid as is.All in all, absolute steal of a deal for a great guitar.

however the hardware of this guitar is nice and the weight feels good

I have been waiting for this to drop in price for some time. When these originally released they were around 500.00 or so but went up to 750+ for a long time. I picked this up for 430 from Sam Ash here on Amazon. This is the 2013 version as the 2014 version apparently ditched us lefties which is a shame because I prefer the zebra pickups in the 2014 version, however the hardware of this guitar is nice and the weight feels good. Some complain it is too heavy, but I like the weight. The cherry satin is nice finish. I like the flat, no frills finish. I did have to get this set up at a local guitar shop as it was a mess out of the box, but that is to be expected. It has low action, no buzz, and seems to tune well and stay tuned (so far).As a lefty, it is difficult to get your hand on a guitar and play it prior to purchase. Most of us have to settle for online purchases. At the end of the day, a guitar is a preference and personal statement. I will say that I am pleased with the purchase and feel this guitar was worth the 430.00 I paid for it. Your mileage may vary.

Solid LP for a good price

*by Y***H on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 15, 2014*

I have had for about a week now and so far so good. I have been playing acoustic guitar for some years now and haven't ever owned an electric only fooled around with a few. When I first started playing I remember going to a friends house who owned a studio LP and a marshal half stack (Tube of course) and playing, ever since then I have had the goal of one day having a similar set up. I cant say this guitar plays as well as I remember the studio playing but it does sound good and im very happy with my purchase. the only gripe I have is the action which can be fixed so that's no big deal but I just expected a lower action out of the box. Also buy strings with it, I forgot to do that and the strings it comes with are not good. all and all this 6 string will do the trick until I can afford a studio.
