## Questions & Answers

**Q: There are 2 different codes, one says purple meter the other says turbo, she has the purple meter but sets for the turbo meter number. I am confused**
A: Be very careful and test these vs the real alpha track strips. I have been testing these strips vs the alpha track strips for a few days. I take a drop of blood on the ear and check both strips , changing the meter coding between them. On code 22 for cats they seem to be biased a bit low low at the low end, for example petsure might read 65 when the alpha track reads 72. That's ok. It warms you when your low. But at the high end it read 430 when the alpha track read 665. That's unacceptable. The alpha track reads similarly to my doctor's laboratory tests up in that region. So I have to believe that the alpha track is the one to believe. Clearly the #22 cal curve used by petsure has less slope than the alphtrack. This is unacceptable. At the bottom a small low bias is ok. When he reads below you take action (give him a snack or some glucose or corn syrup) to bring him up to the 80-300 range. Even if he's really 80 instead of 73 as the petsure strips might read that's actually ok. You just take action a little bit before you really had to. The most important region for a cat to read accurately is 80-300, which is where he can hopefully be kept. If the strips real low in the high range, that's a real problem. If he's reading 360, every morning and then drops to 100 when given insulin, I'm going to think that he's and that he only spends a few hours a day at 360. But if he's really at 550, that's a problem. If I think he's doing well and he's really out of control, he could suffer heart, kidney, liver and/or pancreas damage as well as neuropathy and my first indication would only come when I take him I to the vet every six months. We shall see if the turbo code works any better. But so far, me tests against the alpharrack strips show that these are not acceptable for cats.

    PetSure Test Strips DO work

*by B***C on Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2018*

I ordered the 30ct bottle after reading reviews. Good reviews, mind you. I also tested using same drop of blood, and changing codes from PetSure strip to AlphaTrak strip. I got 10 Pt lower on PetSure than AlphaTrak. Another time difference was 17 pt lower than AlphaTrak. In speaking to my Vet she explained all strips will have a different reading, even if using same brand. This amount difference should not be a concern. I still have AlphaTrak strips and plan to ck between the two brands periodically. The PetSure strips DO work, despite 3 reviews I read on to 60ct bottle reviews. For some odd reason the 60ct would not let me put this review there, which is why I came back to the 30ct to place my review. Test for yourself because at this amount of savings it is totally worth. Also, yes, the PetSure strip is different "where" you place the blood. On AlphaTrak you can use either side of strip, whereas the PetSure strip you place the blood straight on the end. Yes, I had trouble first time using trying to get it to take. And, had to use an additional strip. But, there have been times I've had to use additional AlphaTrak strips. At $1/strip of AlphaTrak, that adds up more than $.43/strip (30ct bottle) or $.37/strip (60ct bottle) for PetSure. You just need to make sure you get good size bubble of blood to start, and bring strip straight on to the blood. Vet told me in beginning to apply Vaseline before lancing. That brings blood to a bubble. Hope this helps ya'll because these strips DO work, and I'm really appreciative to PetSure for selling these at "reasonable " cost. Vet bills, meds & supplies add up quickly and this shows me this company cares.

PetSure! test strips to work with Alpha Trak2 meter (purple meter)

*by X***X on Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2018*

I received these new test strips today. I wanted to try them out since they are approximately one third of the price of the Alpha Trak2 test strips. I have NOT received any money or discount for this review.PetSure! test strips code for a cat = 22Alpha Trak2 test strips code for a cat = 38I set the code to "22" as directed on the Alpha Trak2 meter (purple meter). I ran test 1 with the new "PetSure!" test strips. Test 1 = 150. I reset the code back to the one stated on the bottle for Alpha Trak2 test strips "38". Test 2 = 178. I reset the code on the Alpha Trak2 meter back to the "PetSure!" test strips code "22". I ran test 3. Test 3 = 161. I had to use a lancet each time to get the blood sample required. The Alpha Trak2 meter (purple meter) read the "PetSure!" test strips as claimed.Summary:Pet Sure test strips = test 1 -> 150Alpha Trak2 test strips = test 2 -> 178Pet Sure test strips = test 3 -> 161**All three of these tests were completed within a 5 minute window around 3 pm. My cat would only let me draw blood 3 times.I will buy these PetSure! test strips again.

Yes these really work as a generic strip in the Alpha Trak 2 meter

*by H***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2018*

These test strips work with the Alpha Trak 2 meter as a “generic” strip option. After having gone through about 4 vials over the last couple of months I can say they have been consistently accurate in terms of being acceptably within the range shown by the AT2 test strips. It is great to have a more affordable alternative to the pricy AT2 strips (though I keep a vial of the AT2 strips around in case I get wonky readings or otherwise need to be more certain about the BG reading of my dog).A few times I have gotten strips that don’t work despite having plenty of blood (but also not over saturating the strip). That has been annoying but it was only a few strips (1 or 2 per vial at the most) so I can live with that due to them otherwise working well and giving such great savings. My dog has been diabetic for over 3 years now, and has some other complex health issues, so his ongoing medical supplies, medications, etc. are a significant amount of my expenses, and being able to save $ on test strips while not sacrificing accuracy is a blessing.I give 3 stars instead of 4 because of the occasional dud strip. But overall I’ve been pleased and will continue to buy these. Placing a new order today.
