## Description

Acer X1161P SVGA 800x600 2700 Lumens 3D Ready DLP Projector

Review: The BEST PROJECTOR you can find at this price - Pros: Used mostly for presentations and occasionally to display videos, amazingly visible in a well illuminated room, minimal difference between ECO and normal mode so you can go ECO mode in any condition, cool feature to adjust light output to compensate wall paint color (so you can convert any wall into a real screen), 6000 hours lamp in ECO, low noise, very good scaling of non native resolutions tried 1280 X 800, 1366 X 768 and 1650 X 1080, I fed a 720p HD OTA TV signal of a soccer game and the picture was excellent, actually amazing for a projector in this price range, brilliant colors, lamp replacement around 120 USD, small footprint for a 2700 lumen device, very good option for a data projector at this price. Actually this is the second Acer projector I bought for my group, very satisfied with the performance. Cons: * No audio. * No buttons, the remote control slides in the projector housing to be used as the button station, so if you lose the remote you will suffer, so better keep the remote attached to the projector. * Only 1 year of warranty, all other Acer projectors have 2, not sure why, however for less than 40 you can add 1 year of warranty. * (Not a con, more like a suggestion) Seems like the auto keystone correction is too sensitive and may try to readjust the image every 5 minutes or so, that causes image flickering, so manual keystone adjustment is the way to go. Other Thoughts: Acer is doing very good electronics at affordable prices, I have an Acer AMD laptop (4 years old now) almost indestructible and very reliable, 2 23" LCD monitors bought for less than 139 each, very satisfied with Acer, Keep the good work.
Review: Bright but Limited - I bought this projector to use in a medium size auditorium with a long video cable. It is SVGA, so I did not expect HD quality. It is bright and sharp. As others have mentioned it gets very hot. However, when I tried to use my long cable, the signal loss was really bad. It resulted in a shaking image that brought on at least one migraine. Other projectors we have used did not demonstrate the same loss of signal even with the same cables were used. When the projector was attached to the computer by the enclosed cable, it worked great. I will be returning the item for a higher quality machine. This projector would be good for low resolution home theater. Be sure it can be well ventilated and the cables are short, it can not recover lost signal.

**Q: will this work with Dell and Toshiba laptops, and is it good for showing big crowds movie maker presentations?**

**Q: What size is the rmote battery ? i lost mine , ordered a new one but it does not have a battery and dont want to waste money ordering wrong one, thank**

**Q: How can I project hd video with this projector.I know it doesn¨t have HDMI connection? Can I purchase one device to plug into the VGA port?**
A: Yes you can (there are not such thing like hdmi to vga adapter you are mixing orange with apples HDMI is digital while VGA is analog, you may find a converter but that is expensive), there are some cheap adapters "component to vga", the only way to feed HD to the projector is by component wich is an analog signal but it is HD...the VGA connector goes in the projector and then you feed the RCA connectors (blue, red and green) from a Directv receiver, hd tuner, media player, DVD, video game console, some blu ray players have component outputs but the only provide 480p...

### ⭐ Another Fail! Overheating!
*by J***S on August 5, 2013*

I purchased this projector 6 months ago after reading the reviews about it and doing [what I considered to be] extensive research online. Noticing a few negative reviews, I bought the additional warranty to cover my bases. Fool's gold that was, but I'll get back to this later. My roommate and I could not have been happier with the purchase for the first two months or so, and then the problem started. Without going into all details, I used to use the projector all the time. I'd have a friend or friends over, and we'd watch stuff on the wall which doubled as a 70 inch screen. Once, I fell asleep on the couch, and when I woke up the projector was off. There was a quick flashing red and blue light on the power button. I didn't think it was a big deal, until I tried to turn it back on. Then I was getting a slow flashing error that meant that the bulb was bad. At this time, I contacted the third person warranty company to cash in on the warranty I purchased. They gave me two excuses. First of all, they would not replace a bulb under any circumstance because it was a "replaceable part". Second of all, they wouldn't help me because I was still under the manufacturer warranty. When I protested, they said that if I wasn't happy they would give me my $20 back! Now I was in the position in which I had to either send the projector into Acer for who knows how long or buy a new bulb. I forked over the 120 something dollars for a new bulb and hoped for the best. Two months later, that bulb blew too. At some point in time, I had sent a message to Acer, and received an email full of bogus trouble-shooting tips from some guy in India. I'm not a projector technician, but I am a mechanic, and I know when I'm getting smoke blown in my . . . ear. Eventually, I realized the problem by sheer luck. We had the brightness turned up to get a better picture. The projector couldn't handle this, and it was overheating. When it would overheat, it would lose power. When it would lose power, it would shut down without cooling off the bulb. When it would shut down without powering down and cooling off the bulb, the bulb would break. I turned the brightness down on the projector, and it has been working without incident ever since, but the whole experience was a sort of buzz kill. If I had to do over again, I'd obviously spend a little more up front, instead of spending the extra on the bulbs and also the time and headaches. For the record, my brother had bought the Viewsonic, and he has never had issues with it, falling alseep in front of it or not. One day, I will get another projector. My experience with this one has been . . . not the best.
