Perfectly designed, the Federschwert served to safely practice full speed combat among practitioners, while reducing the risk of injury. The Federschwert greatest attribute is their similar weight and balance to real swords of the same period. The Federschwert is shown extensively in the fighting manuals of the 16th century, particularly those of Paulus Hector Mair and Joachim Meyer. The Feders can be order with the traditional schilt (as shown) or rounded schilt for safety purposes. I've had many in the past and can normally tell how the weapon will hold up after a few sparring/training sessions. This one is the best quality I've had up to this point. If your looking for high quality at an affordable price than this is the one. Don't go spending $150 - $200 on " cost effective ". You will end up spending more in the long run for replacements.
