I'm glad I went with my gut on this purchase, the only issue I have with it is its 'minimum liquid' level, I wish it was a little lower. Sometimes when I'm frying I don't use that much oil (this is the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5.)The clip, it's flexible and allows for space to put on pots and bowls with curved &/or thick edges.I've used it to check water temp prior to adding yeast and the lowest temp setting is just high enough to measure the water temp for the yeast.I do see how the numbers and markers could wear off after time and a lot of washing. I've been careful when washing mine and mine still has all of it markers.Glad I didn't listen to all the negative reviews! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent quality, but a little big *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2012* I'm pleased with the quality of the thermometer and I like the marks on it for each type of candy: hard ball, soft ball, hard crack, etc - nice touch. But we were making candy in smaller batches and since the actual thermometer is glass, the glass piece is protected by a metal guard to prevent it from resting on the bottom of the pan. This meant the thermometer was barely under the surface of the candy mixture. That said it still worked just fine and the clip on the back kept it securely attached to the small saucepan we were using. I only worried at first when there was a mark on the thermometer indicating that it should be immersed by at least an inch into the mixture and we were nowhere near close to it. But like I said, it still worked fine. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Eh *by M***S on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2013* We made "foolproof fudge with this thermometer, and managed to burn it! This was even though we were careful to get the temperature just right according to the reading on the thermometer. So it is not as accurate as I'd hoped, especially at thisprice and considering that it is marketed as a 'Candy Thermometer.'
