Its intense bitterness made it the key ingredient of many bitters, aperitifs and liqueurs. Simple cocktail bitters: 1. Put 1 tablespoon of gentian root, the peel of 1 orange and a few spices (cardamom, cinnamon, clove) into a jar. 2. Cover with 1 cup (8 fl oz) of high proof vodka or grain alcohol. 3. Let it infuse for 2 weeks in a dark place, shaking daily. 4. Strain, bottle and use a few dashes per cocktail. Gentian aperitif: steep a few pieces of root with orange peel in white wine for 1 week, strain and sweeten to taste. Ingredients: 100% cut and dried yellow gentian root (Gentiana lutea). Net weight: 1.76 oz (50 g). Country of origin: France. Storage: dry, cool and dark. Vegan, gluten free. ## Features - THE BITTEREST ROOT: Cut and dried root of yellow gentian (Gentiana lutea) from the French mountains, one of the most bitter plants in the world and the backbone of classic bitters. - HOMEMADE BITTERS: Infuse in high proof alcohol with citrus peel and spices to make your own aromatic cocktail bitters.
